Abstract:
My hypothesis, the angle at the top of the golf swing able to produce the greatest amount of straight shots is the 90 degree angle. Being the angle most professional golfers, players like Adam Scott, Ben Hogan, and Tiger Woods, are seen playing with on the tour, as well as, being the angle most renowned golf instructors, Jim Mclean, Butch Harmon, etc., use to teach their students with. My procedure will start off with me setting up the net with a line running from the top of the net to the ball in order to represent a straight shot and then place the ball in position. Next, I will set up a camera to record my swings individually. I will then take my club to the top and place it into the angle and swing through. I will then look at the recording and see whether it went right, left or straight and record it on my data table. I will repeat this process twenty times for each individual swing. Lastly, I will add up each left, right and straight shots for each individual angle and compare them to one and another. In conclusion, my hypothesis was correct, the angle atop the golf swing creating the greatest number of straight shots was the 90 degree angle.
