Abstract:
Marine biologists studying the endangered Eubalaena glacialis experience difficulty in recording the condition of the remaining right whales due to inadequate tracking and differentiation methods. If marine biologists are able to utilize an intelligent computer vision algorithm, they will be able to more easily track and identify the diminishing North Atlantic right whale population. A machine learning algorithm was developed with an ability to both localize and classify individual North Atlantic Right Whales with over 97% accuracy.
