Abstract:
Our objective was to determine if fingerprint traits were genetic or inherited by relatives to further understand the role genetics may play in the fingerprint patterns among families. We took fingerprints by using an inkpad. Participants signed an informed consent form prior to participation in the study. Participants younger than 18 years had their parent/guardian sign the informed consent form. In our study, we were investigating and observing the similarities and differences between relatives and non-relatives fingerprints to determine if shared fingerprint traits are genetic. Our results were inconclusive because we did not gather enough reliable data.
