Abstract:
Long-term medication management for chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease requires medication adherence. However, research shows that only 50% of patients with chronic diseases take their prescribed medications. Patients face obstacles to medication adherence, such as forgetfulness, complicated schedules, and side effects. Our Smart pill dispenser can improve adherence through features such as audible and visual reminders, medication dispensing at pre-set times, and feedback on adherence. They can also connect to healthcare providers, allowing for remote monitoring and adjustments to medication regimens via a mobile app or Telegram. Our custom Smart pill dispenser has the potential to revolutionize medication management for patients with chronic diseases, improving their quality of life and reducing healthcare costs.
