Abstract:
Uzuri Production is a project with the aim of making BIOCHAR an environmentally friendly product from waste with the aim of making a highly efficient and productive material that will in the end ease the fuel demand in Kenya at an affordable cost. In our day-to-day activities, we require energy to carry out almost everything, from cooking to major industrial activities by the various machinery. As a result, many energy sources are exploited to fulfil the requirements. Some of these sources are oil, biogas, charcoal and wood. Wood being the number one source in Kenya. Therefore, to curb these effects, we have advocated this specific project to bring about the implementation of a renewable and cheap source of energy. BIOCHAR is a high carbon residue that is produced by pyrolysis from organic waste materials such as: dried wood waste, grass and paper. By the use of simple, locally available raw materials, i.e., dried wood waste, grass and paper to produce this substance in a solid form. It resembles charcoal in terms of appearance and texture; however, it bears more advantages in comparison to charcoal and other sources.
