Abstract:
The project started when I became aware of a company that had an idea about a project that could be carried out by a student. They are a company that develop commercial refrigeration systems. When making temperature measurements, the main kind of thermometers that they use are PT100 temperature probes. To ensure that their calibration was accurate, they needed to calibrate the sensors within the temperature range that they were measuring. - The idea was to implement a low cost dry block calibrator for calibrating temperature sensors. - The role of the calibrator is to hold the aluminium block at a constant temperature. - This allows temperature sensors to be inserted into the block alongside a reference thermometer, so that the sensors can be calibrated.
