Abstract:
Worldwide 30 - 40 percent of road deaths are caused by alcohol. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 33,561 people died in traffic crashes in 2012 in the United States of America including an estimated 10,322 people who died in drunk driving crashes, accounting for 31% of all traffic deaths that year. Every day in the United States of America, people drive drunk almost 300,000 times, but fewer than 4,000 are arrested. In 2013, of the 2,944 crashes overall in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, 361 involved drunk drivers. Crashes involving 69 of those 361 drunk drivers led to fatalities or injuries Anti-Alcohol Car is a system, which would decrease all these statistics. It is a device that will be placed in the car and check if the driver is drunk and has consumed alcohol. If there is a positive result, the system would inform the nearest police station about the alcohol issue and the police would stop the car. It consists of three stages, detection of alcohol, stopping the car, and providing the police station with a message along with the location of the car.
