Abstract:
Omija is a special product of Mungyeong province which is mainly used for production of teas and food supplements. In this study, we have utilized the seeds and shells that are not commonly used for food, and analyzed biological properties of the ingredients to apply them to develop functional cosmetics. The free radical scavenging activity tests showed that the Schizandrin component of Omija had antioxidant effect. In addition, animal cell experiments were conducted to investigate various effects of Omija on human body. First, inhibitory effect of Melanogenesi in mouse cell, Gomisin N component of omija carried out better whitening efficacy than albutin. Second, inhibition of NO production experiment, we observed that omija has a higher Anti-Inflammatory effect compared to LPS treatment group. With this result, we made functional cosmetics such as soap, cleansing oil, and mist with omija. In this process, we have increased the omija's usability of the functional cosmetic material by transforming it into solid and liquid forms according to the use and characteristics of functional cosmetics. We intend to develop local industry and increase interest in it by conducting research using omija, a local special product. Also, we tried to improve the practicality of omija by utilizing the unused parts of it. Therefore, we found new value by using omija for another purpose, not for eating.
