Abstract:
With high WAPA utility bills, there is an almost unavoidable economic need to cut down on power usage. I wanted to find some quick simple solutions to not only cut down on energy consumption in our net metered household, but to do it in such a way which would allow the use of two electric cars, and still have no WAPA bill. The first thing that I had to do was to find a way to measure exactly how much power was being used in real time; for this I installed an Eyedro real time monitoring device. This allowed me to turn off and on things in the house and see what exactly what drew the most power and determine how I could reduce consumption. This study determined that the power saving technologies and techniques implemented, allowed for not only the use of two electric cars and no WAPA bill, but the capacity for additional electric appliances. In the future, I plan to implement this live electricity monitoring device into our GHCDS campus, and help cut down on the school’s electricity usage.
