Abstract:
Read4me is a device that enables blind, illiterate and dyslexic people to read paper books. It uses Optical Character Recognition to detect the text in the pictures taken by a camera attached to a raspberry pi. The device then translates the text to the language preferred by the user and then updates the real-time Firebase database to transmit the data to an Android app that allows the user to listen to the result. It can be controlled using voice commands and remote controls. The user can ask questions such as the meaning of a word and Read4me will be able to answer them using the built-in digital assistant.

Awards Won:
Fourth Award of $500
