Abstract:
Multiple Myeloma is a type of hematologic cancer that often significantly affects people's lives; therefore, this scientific research was created with the objective of studying the relationship between the incidence of myeloma and mortality in Puerto Rico through statistical analysis. First, the following problem was developed: Will myeloma mortality in Puerto Rico be lower compared to the incidence? And, the following hypothesis, which was: If the incidence of myeloma in Puerto Rico is determined, then mortality will be lower in those affected by myeloma. After that, through a database provided by the Comprehensive Cancer Center, a series of graphs were made that significantly enriched the statistical analysis of the incidence and mortality of multiple myeloma. Finally, after the exhaustive analysis, the hypothesis posed was validated. Indeed, mortality associated with multiple myeloma is significantly lower compared to the incidence of this type of cancer. Although additional studies are required to further explore the exact mechanisms underlying this lower mortality, the results of this research suggest the possibility of effective treatments. The results obtained from this scientific research have important implications in terms of treatment effectiveness and accessibility, as well as for the planning of future research that can revolutionize this field, through the development of prevention strategies that significantly improve the lives of people after diagnosis and the design of more personalized and advanced therapeutic interventions, with a biological and organic approach for those affected by multiple myeloma, not only in Puerto Rico, but also in other countries around the world.
