Abstract:
My science fair project is to see how pea plants would grow to different liquids on the pH scale. In this world there are many countries with the lack of clean water or just having the ability to have it in their home. If they have plants and need to keep them growing, then with my science experiment maybe they can conserve their water for their drinking purposes. If I water pea plants with black coffee, commercial sugar-free cola, hand soap, bleach, and water, that bleach will help the pea plants grow best and the plants with the water will grow the worst and die. I watered each plant twice before switching to the other liquids to ensure growth. I watered the bases only three times due to the plants dying, but watered the rest of the plants seven times over a time period of 26 days. I did five groups of three to prove that my plants actually grew that way and one of them wasn't just a miracle. All of the plants were in starter pots and were in plant trays. The results I got were surprising. The commercial sugar-free cola grew the best, water grew second best, then the black coffee, then bleach grew second to worst, and lastly is hand soap that didn't grow very much and died very quickly. My hypothesis was refuted after doing the experiment and collecting the final results. The water actually grew the second best and bleach grew the second worst.
